Germany's first and only Penguin Museum is located in Cuxhaven's “Lotsenviertel”, directly by the “Schillerplatz” within walking distance from the "Alte Liebe" (one of Cuxhaven's most famous landmarks). The exact address is Schillerstrasse 64, D - 27472 Cuxhaven.
The opening took place on March 15th 2009 at 03.03 pm (15.03., 15:03 h ). Inside this unique museum, you can see more than 3.333 different items from “The World’s largest Penguin collection” on approximately 130 square metres. The collection has already had several entries in the "Guinnessbook of World Records", the last one in the 2012-edition with a large picture taken inside our museum! Back in 2011, the Guinness-certificate was issued for 11,062 collector's items. Up to the present day, the collection is still growing, exceeding the 24,000 item-mark already!
In addition, our visitors can get various information on the different penguin species, their habitats, breeding and hatching, food, climate change, pollution, protection of species etc. Guided tours in English are available.
And finally, you can visit our gift shop to find the greatest variety of penguin articles on sale anywhere - to expand or maybe even start your own collection! We have hundreds of different Penguin products from really affordable to quite exclusive. Among others we have Christmas gifts, greeting cards, plush animals, figurines made of porcelain, wood, glass or ceramics. Some were even exclusively made for American gift shops like “Department 56” and cannot be found in any other shops in Germany!
